Position:
The Massachusetts Convention Center is seeking an AV Production Lead that will be responsible for overseeing the Audio Visual needs for both the Hynes Memorial Convention Center and the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. Duties of the position include but are not limited to the following: Works with clients and vendors (both preferred in-house vendors and incoming client vendors) to define client expectations relating to AV service delivery and to ensure client satisfaction. Acts as primary point of contact for external AV vendors, providing pre-show guidance and oversight of show execution. Produces progress reports as necessary on all developing projects or potential issues. Develops post-event reports regarding AV services delivered to the client as well as any issues associated with AV service delivery. Maintains approved AV contractor compliance program and associated documentation. Interfaces with local and national broadcasting affiliates as needed on a per show basis. Facilitates AV requests (i.e. projector, screen, etc.) for all internal MCCA and contractor meetings.

Requirements:
Bachelors Degree and 3-5 years experience in technology/computer science, technical theatre, or broadcasting is required. Job related experience and certification may be substituted for requirements. Knowledge of VLAN architecture and TCP/IP networking is required. Experience with satellite and microwave (Ku) uplink & downlink requirements as well as fiber optic based audio/video/data transmissions are all also necessary. Individual must be able to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings, and holidays as well as be on-call 24x7 for potential show support.

Individual must be a self-starter, highly motivated and possess strong interpersonal skills. The individual must have the ability to solve problems in nonstandard and innovative ways. He/she must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to interface with and motivate associates at all levels. The individual must be able to work independently, have strong organizational and computer skills, and be flexible in a team-oriented environment.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a full-time, tenure track position with an annual beginning salary of $44,730 - $46,067 for a 175-day contract. (Advancement opportunities exist, based upon professional development performed during course of employment and seniority, to maximum of $69,433). Total compensation: $57,652 - $59,109. Total compensation is an estimate based upon base salary, current CCS benefit contribution rates and median retirement contributions. The actual total will vary depending upon each employee's enrollment specifics.

In addition, tenure track faculty have access to the following forms of supplemental compensation, consistent with the provisions of the current collective bargaining agreement between CCS and the Association for Higher Education (AHE) - subject to change through the collective bargaining process: elected department chair stipend ($1,500 to $10,300 annually, dependent upon size of department), club advising stipend ($160 to $1,445 dependent upon activities advised), supplemental (i.e. "moonlighting") instructional contracts (average of $2,901 per quarter/per assignment and dependent upon workload category), special project stipend (up to $2,000 annually), and summer school assignment ($11,182 to $12,853 for a 100% load and dependent upon salary step placement).

Position Objectives

The Senior Recording Engineer assists the Director of Audio in establishing Music & Sound as a leader in audio education, research and production both nationally and internationally.

This position has primary responsibility for the studio training and overseeing of the work study program, the quality check of all studio-related projects (internal and external), recording engineering of major projects, supervising the senior associate and research residencies, and assisting the Director of Audio with strategic planning as required.

Responsibilities

Oversee internal and external recording projects; up to 20 CD projects, 75 demo CDs, 250 concerts, and over 1000 hours of collaborative projects within The Banff Centre.

Review facilities usage and technical status regularly, so as to recommend and implement policy, procedure and development plans.

Assist the Director of Audio with strategic planning for audio, adjudicate work study applications and faculty.

Schedule, supervise and mentor between 7 and 10 work study participants per term.

Oversee curriculum development, program delivery and evaluation.

Provide guidance to work-studies and clients with regard to facilities, artistic goals quality control of projects.

Provide individual liaison and coordination of research partners and research associates, in conjunction with Director of Audio.

Assist The Banff Centre in meeting its revenue goals through active participation in the identification, development and implementation of commercial activities, and through cost control.

Qualifications

Ability to work self-directed at a professional level in a variety of recording studios with a proven track record of success in recording engineering.

A graduate degree in sound recording or equivalent experience.

At least 5 years of recognized professional experience in the production and engineering of professional recordings.

Experience in audio education.

Able to work at high level with a wide variety of analog and digital technologies: automated large and small scale mixing consoles; various digital multi-track and hard disk recorders; digital workstations; various time-based, dynamic and timbral processors; time code, digital sync, video lock; surround sound formats and media systems; Macintosh and Windows proficiencies.

Expert knowledge of the latest recording techniques for music, audio post-production and alternate media. * Able to thrive in a consultative, team environment.

Possessing strong written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills. Special Requirements

JOB DESCRIPTION: Sales Support

Responsibilities involve supporting the Parsons Audio sales staff. That includes much direct involvement with customers and vendors. More particualr responsibilities include:

1. Pre-sale informing, advising, providing product info, handling loaners, and occasionally demoing products (i.e., DAWs, speakers, EFX, etc.) for our customers.

2. Order processing: taking, placing, and expediting orders; receiving and shipping goods; handling customer pickups; running credit cards, and otherwise arranging payment. These tasks constitute most of the job. Occasionally, they involve installation of DAW cards and software, rack gear, etc.

3. After-sale support: product returns, clearing up paperwork, and the like. Occasionally, there is call to give customers basic operational training (i.e., re Pro Tools and other equipment), assistance with troubleshooting, and referring them to manufacturers' and others' product support staffs.

4. General support: helping with events (i.e., courses at the Center for Audio Studies, the annual Expo, user group meetings, product presentations, trade shows, etc.); some responsibility for our Demonstration Rooms, demo equipment, computer systems, and office machines; listing and selling our Bargains List items.

5. Technical training for this position is provided occasionally by manufacturers' specialists. Mostly it comes from everyday experience. Available resources include customers, online info, demo equipment and documentation, manufacturers' personnel, etc.


DETAILS

The work is constant, but not frenzied or unduly pressured. The atmosphere is friendly and co-operative. Tasks are diverse, rarely tedious. You will meet and get to know many long-time, loyal customers. (We've been a leader in this business for thirty years.) They are owners and operators of audio/media facilities throughout New England, and beyond. Most of them are highly accomplished -- you'll learn from them.

We sell more than 200 product lines. You will get to know many of the industry's leading manufacturers and manufacturers' representatives. Their product specialists visit now and then, and we're often in touch with them by phone and e-mail. They provide us with a broad education in current technology.

Work hours are approximately 10am-6pm, Monday through Friday (some flexibility). We take the usual holidays. The pay suits entry-level, with opportunity for improvement. JOB REQUIREMENTS

1. This is mostly administrative work. Excellent people skills are required; also writing and math skills, efficient work habits, ability to self-start, ability to set priorities and to multitask, creative problem solving, and a willingness to push (politely) when necessary on behalf of customers. Work experience in a for-profit environment, especially in sales, is a plus.

2. The applicant should like audio production and recording, and be familiar with professional audio technology and its applications, including recording, production, mastering, film & video post, performance and sound reinforcement, and radio and TV broadcast. That familiarity will grow dramatically in the course of this work.

3. Mac and PC skills are a must. Pro Tools skills are helpful, along with familiarity with computer-hosted audio systems.

4. A car, unless you live within biking or walking distance. Mass transit doesn't come near enough.

Position: Audio Recording/Pro Tools Instructor at NESCom

SUMMARY

The Audio Instructor will be a full time, year round, salaried employee of NESCom who will instruct classes and labs as assigned; advise students and maintain equipment within the Audio Department under the direction of the Director of Audio Production and the Dean. Position: Assistant Professor - Audio Engineering
